NU PLACE Fellows Program

The NU PLACE Fellows Program (formerly known as Summer Bridge) supports and connects incoming first-year students as they begin their Northeastern journeys.With support from Northeastern's Professional Leadership and Career Engagement (PLACE) team, the program provides intentional career and leadership engagement for first-year, Boston-based students who identify as first-generation college students and/or come from under-resourced or lower-income backgrounds.
Prepare for Excellence
The yearlong program begins on the Boston campus with a weekend of community and connection following move-in.
The program introduces students to professional leadership, identity development, and networking fundamentals within a diverse and inclusive learning environment—creating space to engage with peers, faculty, mentors, and staff in meaningful and career-focused ways.
What to Expect
As a NU PLACE Fellow, you will begin charting your academic and career path while cultivating leadership skills and professional confidence. You will engage in a combination of workshops, team building, and career-focused sessions that help build your network across all Northeastern colleges. With interactive opportunities to connect with faculty, staff, and peers, this program sets the stage for your success in both the classroom and your future career.

NU PLACE Fellows will participate in college-specific breakout sessions, learning about academic expectations while also exploring key early-career resources, including co-op opportunities, advising networks, and support systems within their college.

How to apply
Eligible students can access the NU PLACE Fellows application via their Application Status Check portal. Applicants should demonstrate interest in career exploration, leadership development, and community engagement.
